The field of minimally invasive spine surgery is rapidly evolving and Robotics is one technology I utilize. This makes me more efficient in the OR which cuts down on surgery time for the patient and less time under anesthesia. Another advantage is the precision that robotic surgery provides. This is important because in spine surgery, millimeters matter.
Endoscopic surgery is revolutionising minimally invasive techniques and involves passing a camera through the skin through a tiny incision in order to remove disks and to perform other surgeries. Endoscopic spine surgery allows me to correct the problem with the spine without disrupting muscle or other structures within the spine. The great thing about this is that it doesn’t require general anesthesia and the patient can go home the same day of surgery. It is truly the least invasive technique today.
